A large, roundish, irregular apple above medium size with clear pale waxen-yellow skin streaked and dotted with crimson and orange. The flesh is white, crisp, and very juicy with a rich, vinous, and powerfully aromatic flavor. Originating in Germany, it is equally desirable for dessert or culinary use and keeps from October to December, though comparatively little known in England despite being a favorite in Germany.
