Boskoop is a large Dutch apple with dull green to yellow skin, sometimes blushed with red. It has a firm, coarse texture and subacid flavor that becomes milder late in season, making it suitable for culinary purposes and general market use rather than fresh eating. Originating in 1856 as a chance seedling in the Netherlands, it had been introduced to New York more than twenty-five years before 1905, but Beach judged it only marginally worth testing and not ready to recommend for widespread planting.
