Amassia
Malus domestica Borkh. Borkh.
Dessert
Amassia is a beautiful ornamental apple from Asia Minor with attractive bright red coloring and pleasant sweet flavor. It has firm, crisp, juicy flesh with a mild subacid to nearly sweet taste, making it excellent for fresh eating. Though valuable in its native region, it is unlikely to be extensively cultivated in commercial orchards due to its sweet nature and variable performance under less favorable conditions.
