Design notes

Layered DAG layout via @dagrejs/dagre (longest-path ranker, LR direction). Nodes are colored by cultivar group; the top eight groups by count get distinct hues, everything else falls into the gray “other” bucket. Edge ribbons borrow the visual cue from hierarchical edge bundling but route along dagre’s waypoints instead of bundling through a hierarchy. Hover animates an SVG stroke-dashoffset to give the lineage current direction.
