Annurca
Malus domestica Borkh. Borkh.
Dessert
Annurca is one of Italy's oldest apple varieties, from Campania, with documented records dating to 1876. Though its formal first mention was in Pasquale's Manuale di Arboricultura, it is believed to be far more ancient and may be the same apple depicted in frescoes from Herculaneum and Pompeii. It is eaten fresh and is typically picked in late October for use through January.
